It’s not our personal favorite, but others have argued that this might be the very best Hot Wheels track for sale. It’s certainly a contender for that title, thanks in large part to its challenging intersections, hairpin turns, motorized “super charger” boosters, and huge central crash zone. It contains more than 16 feet of track for $50 USD (at time of writing), comes with a car, and features parking spaces for easy storage.

Unfortunately, this track set is entirely self-contained, and does not connect to other Hot Wheels tracks. It also doesn’t work with all Hot Wheels cars, so make sure you don’t have any of the toys that are too crazy or too big for this racing playset.

Everything You Need To Know About Hot Wheels Race Tracks

The first Hot Wheels racing track sets were released alongside the first Hot Wheels die-cast cars in 1968, more than 50 years from time of writing. The original track consisted of bright orange plastic road sections that could be combined to form a single oblong race track, complete with two “super chargers” that propelled each car to high speeds.

Because the tires on Hot Wheels cars were wider and harder than those of Matchbox cars, they created less friction and could drive on the tracks faster and more smoothly. The two toys were a match made in heaven, and both remain extremely popular today.

The modern Hot Wheels tracks include many elements of the original sets. Many of them still have super chargers, or at the very least other motorized parts designed to move the cars more quickly. They also continue to come in the now-iconic bright orange color. However, modern track sets are much more complex, and come in a huge variety of sets that are designed to be combined into unique tracks. We’ve long grown past the basic oval shape!

Technically, Hot Wheels track sets CAN be used with third-party die-cast cars, but it’s generally not recommended that you do so. Other car toys might be too big, or too small. They may not fit in the super chargers. And as we said before, Hot Wheels cars tend to drive better on the specially-designed plastic tracks, giving your child a more enjoyable and exciting experience.
